Bienvenue à Efisio Manunta

Dr. Efisio Manunta obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Toulouse (CLLE, UT2J, CNRS, France) in 2022 under the supervision of Professor Maja Becker.
He mainly studies the motivational processes driving identity construction (perception of one's self) and how these influence behaviour, intentions, attitudes and opinions in the political and public health spheres (voting behaviour, ideology, populism, radicalisation, pro-health behaviour, etc.). He has particularly focused on how the frustration of identity motives, identity threat and other psychological threats affect the adhesion to populist attitudes. In addition, he has experience in the construction and validation of psychometric instruments, such as political attitude and opinion scales. In general terms, his social psychological research interests lie at the intersection of political, health, and cross-cultural questions.
Efisio Manunta is the author of several scientific publications in world-class (Q1) journals in social psychology and multidisciplinary field: e.g., Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and Political Psychology (as first author), Nature Human Behaviour, PNAS, etc. (as co-author). His international profile counts eight years in Toulouse (France) between master's, doctoral studies, research and temporary lecturer positions, 1 year in Ireland as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Limerick under Pr. Orla Muldoon's ERC Grant, as well as numerous long-term visiting positions at various European universities, including University of Sussex (UK) and Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy). In addition, E.M. has participated in numerous international and national conferences (EASP, ISPP, AIP, ADRIPS).
